Welcome to Oswestry Chess Club

The Club Championship 2024 is now underway, organised, as was last year's Championship, by Jon. Thank you Jon. The draw for the first round has been made and the first results are in. Full details are on the Club Championship page. The coveted, but so far non-existent, Championship Trophy is up for grabs. Perhaps by the end of the Championship a trophy of a more physical nature will be in existence.

Can Richard repeat his triumph of last year? Can the Club splash out on a real trophy? Will this year's Champion receive more than just the round of applause that was awarded to Richard last year?

Stay tuned to find out. Okay, with that out of the way, welcome to Oswestry Chess Club. We are always ready to welcome newcomers. If you want to learn how to play chess, if you want to improve your game or if you just want a friendly game come along and have a go. Try a session for free and if you like it become a member. If you decide that it's not for you then it has cost you nothing. Joining the club opens up opportunities to play competitively depending on ability. You could play as part of a team in league matches online or over the board or in individual competition. Everyone is welcome, any age, any ability from beginner to Grand Master. Please note that children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We hope to see you soon.
