About Us

If you answer 'Yes' to any of these questions then congratulations, you are just the person we are looking for. New members are always welcome and are always well received. Come along and have a go. Try a session for free and if you like it become a member. If you decide that it's not for you then it has cost you nothing. Joining the club opens up opportunities to play competitively depending on ability. You could play as part of a team in league matches over the board or online, or in individual competition. Everyone is welcome, any age, any ability from beginner to Grand Master (although there can't be many of those in and around Oswestry). Oswestry Chess Club operates a Safeguarding Policy, overseen by our Safeguarding Officer, for the benefit of vulnerable adults and those under 18 years of age.

Venue

We meet every Wednesday at 7.30pm at Morda Village Hall which is hard by the Morda United football ground.

Membership Rates

Annual membership subscription is £35 pounds for adults, £17.50 for the under 18s. Casual attendees are welcome to try a couple of sessions for free to see if you like us. Further casual sessions will cost £2.

Questions?

If you have any questions or require further details, then please contact Jonathan Smith, the Club secretary — 07855 093828. So heave yourself off the sofa, log out of social media, abandon the online blitz chess for a while and come and push some pieces around. We hope to see you soon.
